Memorials Days Past

On memorial Day 2010 I hopped on my motorcycle with a tiny paint kit and rode to a local quarry to paint this picture. It was unseasonably hot but I found some shade under the roof overhang of the quarry office. I plan on getting out to paint this Memorial Day as well so we’ll see what I have to show for it on Tuesday.

View from my Porch

This oil from 2000 was recently shot as a digital file after only existing as a 35mm slide. I like looking back on old paintings and seeing that they’ve aged well and still resonate with me. That’s how I know I’ve got an image that will stand the test of time.

Summer on the Porch

Here’s another image from 2000 that I’ve just shot digitally. I miss the porch on my old house when the weather gets warm and this oil painting was about enjoying those moments.

Continuing the process of archiving old work…

In 2000 I was looking to move from my old house and decided to paint the view from each window in the house before doing so. Each painting was about 72″x48″ and this one was called Ideal Neighbor because it’s what I wanted my neighbor’s yard to look like rather than the mess they allowed to accumulate.

More stuff from the archives

“Summer in Suburbia” is approximately 60″ x 72″ and dates from 2002 back in the days of shooting 35mm slides. I’ve just shot it digitally because it will be part of a seasonal show in the windows of Garmany Men’s Store in Red Bank, NJ this summer organized by James Yarosh Associates Fine Art. www.jamesyarosh.com

Latest large painting with Liquitex Professional Spray Paint

I spent a few days last week in Orlando, Florida making this 96″ x 216″  painting with artist, Will Condry at the National Art Materials Trade Show. We had a loose idea of where we were going with it but collaborated in a very improvisational way to complete it in a little over two days. Will took off with my idea for a skate park and transformed the bowl into a swirling mass of dragon-like creatures around my figures to create a moving composition. Check out two more close-ups below.
